Something you may not know about Chanel
Between the 1950’s and 1990’s C H A N E L used 24k gold plated hardware on their bags. Change began in the early 2000’s when they introduced gold-toned hardware.
In 2008 they officially stopped using 24 gold plated hardware and opted for gold-toned hardware only.
The difference being 24k gold plated hardware uses real gold over a core of other metal whereas gold-tone hardware uses no real gold and simply gives the appearance of gold.
Since the introduction of gold-tone hardware we have seen steep price increases which hasn’t deterred loyal fans of the brand.
